Hosting Help: Add Your New Email Address to Outlook Express

Step 1:   Open Outlook Express (Hint: Windows XP, Start/Programs/Outlook Express)

Please note this tutorial is based on Windows XP Pro with Outlook Express 6.  Your operating system and Outlook version may be different, resulting in different screen images, navigation structure, and directions, however the basic concept is the same.  You need to find the account consule, add a new account and make sure you have added all the information contained in this tutorial.

Step 2:   Open the accounts control panel by clicking on "Tools/Accounts"

 

 

Step 3:   Add a new mail account by clicking on "Add/Mail" in the pop up window.

 

 

Step 4:   In the "Internet Connection Wizzard" window, add the name you'd like displayed for your email and click on Next.

 

 

Step 5:   Next add your new email address and click Next.

 

 

Step 6:   Next add the incoming and outgoing mail servers this is mail. whatever your domain name is (example: mail.functionalart.us).  Note this should be the same for both. Once completed, click Next.

 

 

Step 7:   Next add your email address in the Account Name box and your password in the Password box and make sure Remember Password is Checked. Password is case sensative.  Click next.

 

 

Step 8:   Next Click "Finish".

 

 

Step 9:   Your new email account is now set up to receive emails and your new account should be displayed in the "Internet Accounts" window.  Next, we need to make sure you can send emails.  You are almost done, make sure your new email account is highlighted and click on "Properties".

 

 

Step 10:   Next click on the "Servers" tab, in the section marked "Outgoing Mail Server" place a check in the box next to "My server requires authentication", and click "Apply".

 

 

Step 11:   Click on "Ok".

 

 

Step 12:   In the next window, click on "Close".

 

 

Congratulations!   You have successfully set up your new email address with Outlook Express.
